Preamble

Members of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) must be persons of integrity, who conduct business in a professional, ethical manner. Members shall not violate or attempt to violate the Code of Ethics and Rules of Practice, or knowingly assist or induce others to do so. Members shall be dedicated to the preservation of life and property in the marine environment.

1. Strive to enhance the profession of marine surveyors
2. Maintain and enhance their professional knowledge and expertise
3. Conduct their business in a professional manner
4. Maintain independence, integrity, and objectivity
5. Avoid prejudice and conflict of interest

Industry Standards

The surveys conducted by Gulf of Maine Boat Surveyors and Marine Consultants comply with, or exceed, all applicable industry standards, practices, and codes. The following list outlines just a few of these:

  • The Code of Federal Regulations
  • United States Coast Guard (USCG) rules and regulations
  • American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC®) standards and recommended practices
  • Value determinations by BUC® Value, NADA©, and Power Boat Guide
  • Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS®) code of ethics and rules of practice
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA©)
